Senior Research Scientist

Venkat Pisupati is a stem cell biologist at the Wellcome-MRC Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge, UK. He leads the stem cell group at the pluripotent stem cells and engineered cells (PSEC) Cambridge hub, under UK regenerative medicine programme (UKRMP), with the aim of bringing human pluripotent stem cell based cellular therapies to standard clinical practice focussing on human dopaminergic stem-cell based therapy trials in Parkinson’s disease. Venkat holds a Ph.D. in genetics and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Society. He has more than 20 years of experience in the stem cell biology field using stem cells to model disease and development. His published work includes the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine, and role of genes involved in DNA repair and pathways leading to tumorigenesis.
